Mark Waid (* 21. März 1962, Hueytown, Alabama, USA)
1989 hatte es der Autor geschafft, für nahezu jeden großen Comic-Verlag tätig gewesen zu sein. Gemeinsam mit dem Comic-Maler Alex Ross schuf er die Story-Line Kingdom Come, für die sie mit dem Eisner Award ausgezeichnet wurden. Zu den Highlights seines Schaffens zählt sicherlich auch die wöchentlich erschienende DC-Serie 52, welche mal nicht die Ikonen Superman, Batman und Wonder Woman I in den Mittelpunkt stellte, sondern sogenannte B-Helden, wie Elongated Man, Adam Strange und Question.
