If you haven't seen, and, let's face it you might have, Walt Disney is pretty like to show off their Disney Vacation Club (DVC for small). You see advertisements for it practically everywhere at Walt Disney World Resort - stickers, pins, kiosks, billboards, bus attributes, and a dedicated TELEVISION channel. Unfortunately, Disney, so that they can keep their slogan short-term, sweet, and to the purpose, has resulted in most of these advertisements telling you nothing other than that the Disney Vacation Club is just for you - but is it? Here are a few ways of tell.

Do you have the money?
First and foremost, do you have the money to pay for a Disney Vacation Club membership? Disney claims that they can save you up to 70% with this particular program, but if you read the many fine print and like, it may not be true for you. If you have to look into debt, or start a Disney Vacation Club finance contract to pay for your membership, it's a negative idea. You'll lose any savings perhaps you may earn as a person in the DVC in the eye alone. Of course, just you, not the Disney marketers know this.

Is the upgrade in accommodations more than worth it?
This depends with who you are - there is a good chance that you will be fine with the accommodations you have already got at Walt Disney Environment Resort. Mouse Keeping is convenient, and it's just you in addition to a friend, so there is plenty of room. If you now have a large family who loves Disney - and all things considered, who doesn't? - who loves to be on Disney vacations together, you might find that the upgrade in accommodations invaluable, on account in the kitchen, in-room-Internet, and available laundry facilities. If you like thinking about vacationing at a home away from home, then you will surely find the upgrade in accommodations worth the money.

Planning Ahead
Being a member of the DVC requires want you to plan your vacations ahead of time, big time. For example, most resorts are booked solid 6 - 7 - 8 months ahead of time. Not only that, but in order to make the cost of your DVC membership worthwhile, you and your family will need to guarantee that they can take 1 Walt Disney Environment of Disneyland vacation every 3 years for the next... oh, say... about 40 years. The DVC features some sort of banking and borrowing process that keeps this number from being one Disney vacation on a yearly basis. If you cannot commit to this, the DVC will not be worth the time and money you invest in it.

Really, the choice is yours. Besides getting the process itself, being a DVC member means that you get access to special DVC "members-only" events and such throughout the year. You also get a discount over the Annual Pass. Keep in mind that DVC can be a program whose goal is to make Disney vacations more appealing to Disney fans - partially pre-paying for Disney summer vacations for practically the rest of your life. This sounds like a ridiculous concept, but take into account that it wouldn't exist if it were not right for many, many of us. Really do your exploration and talk with some people who have the DVC or some of the nice Disney Employees at one of many DVC kiosks before deciding. You may be surprised at that which you find.

A couple of month's ago I had a chance to stay at Disney Family vacation Club's new resort, the Villas at the Grand Californian. Located right on the entrance to Disneyland, this is a great place to stay if you're planning a visit to the Anaheim parks. You can actually insert California Adventure right from inside the hotel grounds and Downtown Disney is just on the opposite side in the lobby, so all of that Disney magic is close at hand.

Disney's Grand Californian Lodging & Spa is, in my view, Disneyland's best resort hotel and contains been around for a long time now. I used to see them building it to look at was living in La and visiting Disneyland regularly. Now though, they have expanded the resort along with the expansion is all Villas for the Disney Vacation Club.

What this means for DVC owners is actually reduced costs for residing at The Grand Californian. I've stayed there in advance of on points in one of many hotel rooms, but now that the DVC Villas are open, it cost fewer points per night in which to stay a studio, which gives you a bit more room than the standard hotel rooms. The lay-out for this villas, as far as i can tell, is virtually exactly like the rooms at my own other favorite Disney vacation resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas. The difference is in the soft furnishings. They features lots of Arts & Crafts motifs and the idea is that you should feel like you are keeping a great lodge in Northern California.

There's been a lot of talk on the several Disney forums that if you need to stay at the Grand Californian Villas then you definately better own there and buying soon as there are just 48 villas total. But I own at Saratoga Springs at Disney World nonetheless had no problem booking a vacation in the Villas at the Grand Californian for a few nights in November, only some weeks after they have been officially opened for bookings. I suppose that may change in the future, but I think if you really want to visit and are flexible with all your dates and unit types, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Now there is one change at the Grand Californian that I don't attend to too much. As a direct result needing the extra room to produce on the property, self-parking for the resort is no longer directly in front of the resort. You have to frustrated Disneyland Drive now to get to and from the parking lot. It's nearby, but still a hassle. Valet car parking, however, will set you back $17 a day plus tips, so if like to spend your money on better problems that parking the car, then self-parking will just have to do!
